Dana & Henry first crossed paths at Dana’s uncle’s BBQ in 2010 not knowing that they would cross paths again at another event a year later and then again at a double birthday bash a month later. With each meeting they grew closer and they decided that these chance meetings were more than just that. So they took the lead from there and went out on their first date. Dana loved how much thought Henry put into their date and she felt he was trying to impress her and he was definitely succeeding. For Dana the saying, “You just know when you meet the one” stands true as that is how she felt on their first date. They not only had a great time, but clicked really well and it was all Dana needed to know he’s the one.
Their proposal story was true to how they are: cute, silly and perfect. Henry planned the proposal and took Dana to a private beach in Pismo Beach. When they first arrived, there were about 3 couples at the beach, but as they settled with their two dogs and copious amounts of snacks, the people slowly disappeared. As soon as the entire area was clear, a 15-20 people group of kayakers came from the ocean and decided to enjoy their break right in front of them. Henry patiently and nervously waited for it to be clear as he pictured this moment to be an intimate moment just between the two of them. The kayakers finally rowed off to the ocean 15 minutes later and Henry knew this was his chance before any more interruptions happen. He told Dana that he needed to grab his flashlight out of the car because it was starting to get too dark. He finally made his way back to Dana and then surprised her by getting down on one knee and saying “Are you sure” before asking her to marry him and she of course said yes between giggles and tears of happiness.
Their engagement session was beyond perfect. The weather had been unpredictable with some days being rainy, sunny and overcast, but it was called for a sunny day and it was the most gorgeous light ever. Pair that with the stylish duo that Dana and Henry are and it was a photographers dream. I loved how the various types of cactus in the garden provided an amazing textural and unique backdrop for the couple. Dana & Henry were funny, loving and full of silliness during their shoot and I loved getting to know how they are as a couple and I can’t wait to capture their BIG DAY!! It was very hard to narrow down just few favorites for the blogpost, but here are few of my favorites from their engagement session.
