They met during their sophomore year at Stanford University in rhetoric class. Tommy sat next to Ali the first day and kept chatting with her during class. A week or so later, they both agreed to be in a book study group and that’s really where they became close. Tommy found Ali to be very smart and also very pretty and classy “Prettier and classier than everyone else.” Ali thought he was cute! And very talkative. She noticed his good sense of humor and how comfortable he was with himself. It wasn’t until a year after they met that they started dating, but it felt like the most natural progression for them and they quickly realized they were as compatible as they thought they were.
When Tommy decided to propose to Ali he planned out how he was going to do it and part of his plan included singing a song for her. He drove up into the Palo Alto hills to a park with Ali and brought his guitar along. Ali knew the proposal was coming and she was very excited and as she listened to the last verse of the song, where he asked her to marry him, she immediately said yes.
For their engagement session they went back to the same place where Tommy proposed. The open field and the stunning mountain views were a perfect backdrop for Tommy to serenade Ali and a special way to relive their proposal. I absolutely loved capturing their love and can’t wait to document their special day. Here are few of my favorites from their session.
